Helena holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from Lancaster University, UK. She is full professor of accounting at Iscte Business School in Lisbon and previously worked at Bayes Business School in London. She had visiting positions at the University of Miami in the US, where she was a Fulbright Research Scholar, and at Sydney University in Australia. Her research interests are on financial markets, corporate governance and international financial reporting. She is often invited to speak at seminars, conferences, and doctoral meetings of prestigious European and US universities.
Helena’s research has been published in top journals in accounting and finance, such as the Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, European Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Auditing and Finance, and Journal of Business Ethics. Her research findings have been used by international organizations dealing with corporate reporting issues, such as the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), the CFA Institute, and the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG).
